Deadlines:
April 1st for Fall admit

Feb 1st for Univer. Fellowship

Submit on-line application

Review online application

Approve or reject applicants 

Send approved packets to Graduate Office

Approve and return packet to School

Enter student  data into registration system

Appt of Advisory Committee

1 year after admission

Communicate with director RE: Committee composition

Director approves committee

Complete Advisory Committee Form

Verify & sign off on Advisory Committee form

External Minor

During coursework

Submit external minor proposal

Director approves external minor proposal

 

Transfer of Credit &/or Revalidation

Near the end of coursework

Meet with Ph.D. Program Director

Submit Transfer of Credit form/revalidation request

Approve transfer of credits

Authorize transfer  on transcript

Qualifying Exam

Within 1 yr of course completion

At least 8 mos before awarding of degree anticipated

Submit written Qualifying Exam

Present Oral Exam

 

Advisory Comm evaluates Qual Exam

Submit Nomination to Candidacy form

Verify completion of coursework

Sign off on Nomination to Candidacy form

Appt of Research Committee

After Passing Qualifying Exam

At least 6 mos prior to defense

In writing, suggest up to 5 faculty to Director

Nomination of Research Committee form

Dean & Director approve committee

Verify faculty status & sign off on Nomination of Research Committee form

Dissertation

After passing qual exam, if not done sooner

Submit Diss. Proposal

Register for diss credits each F & Sp

Research Committee approves proposal

 

IRB Approval

After dissertation proposal is approved

Get certified

Submit  forms

Dissert. Chair listed as PI

 

Final Defense

&

Format Check

1 month before final defense

After final revisions approved

Prepare Defense Announcement (title pg & 150 wd abst)

Set appt w/ Grad Office for Format Check

Submit signed Defense Announcemnt

Research committee approves Final Dissertation

Conduct Format Check

Deposit of Dissertation

Within 7 yrs of passing Qual Exam

By 10th of the mos.

Deposit bound dissertation with 350 word abstract to Grad Office  

Receive final bound dissertation
