Indiana University School of Social Work Indiana University School of Social Work (IUSSW) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the assistant or associate professor rank for the BSW program operating on the Bloomington campus, beginning August 2003. Successful candidates will have a focused research agenda and be interested in teaching in the generalist practice sequence (with a focus on larger systems). In addition to teaching and research, faculty are expected to develop collaborative partnerships with community agencies for action research projects, advise students, serve as field liaisons, and contribute to community and university service efforts. Collaborative research and policy analysis projects with other university departments are also encouraged.
The School seeks individuals strongly committed to the principles of social and economic justice, to a balanced integration of teaching, scholarship, and service within BSW education, and to curricular development that anticipates emergent practice needs, including the use of technology.
IUSSW has a long and distinguished history that extends back to 1911 and the BSW program has maintained CSWE accreditation since 1975. The Bloomington Campus of Indiana University, located 45 miles from Indianapolis in the rolling hills of southern Indiana, is the oldest and largest campus in the university. Known for its physical beauty, the 1,859-acre residential campus serves about 35,000 students, a diverse student body including many international students. With an outstanding faculty and many excellent academic programs, an extensive library system, and state-of-the-art computer technology, the campus offers many academic opportunities for faculty and students. The City of Bloomington is a center for recreational and cultural activities, making a pleasant place to live and work.
Qualifications: An MSW plus a minimum of two years post-MSW practice experience and a doctoral degree in social work or a related field are required. ABD with completion of the doctorate anticipated prior to employment will be considered. Evidence of scholarly productivity is necessary. Prior undergraduate teaching experience is highly desirable. Practice experience and scholarly interest in one of the following fields is also helpful: mental health, child welfare, aging, and addictions. The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
