Certificate Programs

Learning about fundamental values and ehtics of case management

The BSW program offers two certificate programs.  These are Case Management and Family Life Education.  Enrollment in each certificate program requires formal admission to Indiana University.  The following are the minimum requirements for consideration for admission to the certificate programs:

  1. Regular admission to the university.
  2. Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree.  In this case, applicant needs to have a minimum of 26 credit hours to be considered for admissions.  Or
  3. Completion of an undergraduate degree.
  4. A minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

The Certificate in Case Management offered by the Indiana University School of Social Work prepares:

  1. graduates with a holistic view of the person and knowledge of the community resources.
  2. qualified graduates for case management positions in a wide range of human service contexts.
  3. graduates to understand and apply the fundamental values and ethics of case management including commitment to client empowered processes.
  4. graduates to understand the multi-dimensional aspects of interdisciplinary collaboration.

The Certificate in Family Life Education offered by the Indiana University School of Social Work prepares:

  1. graduates with an understanding of families and their relationships to other institutions.
  2. graduates with an understanding of family strengths and deficits and how family members relate to each other.
  3. graduates with an understanding of the developmental changes of individuals in families throughout the life span to meet their adjustment needs.
  4. graduates with an understanding of the physiological, psychological, and social aspects of sexual development throughout the life span, so as to achieve healthy sexual development.
