Looking for advice, Belize turns to Dr. Carolyn Gentle-Genitty for her expertise
Dr. Carolyn Gentle-Genitty led a number of workshops while in Belize

Aug. 26, 2009  - When the country of Belize decided to hold a summit this summer to create a service delivery system for the youth of that country, they knew exactly who to ask to be the keynote speaker and facilitator for the event: School of Social Work Assistant Professor Dr. Carolyn Gentle-Genitty.

As the first Belizean PhD social worker, Dr. Gentle-Genitty’s helped lead discussions at workshops on topics ranging from understanding youth anti-social-behavior, team building, life coaching, collaboration, family preservation and criminality and adolescents as well as helping the country put on its two-day summit.

She also worked with local youth organizations, a gang unit, police, a women’s organization, human development officers and others.

The trip laid the groundwork for a partnership with the Indiana University School of Social Work and Belize endorsed by the Office of the Vice Chancellor through a Program Development Grant. The government of Belize has asked for her continued commitment in research and training with its human development staff country wide, police and youth agencies.
