Centennial Celebration Committee picks a slogan and is looking for a logo and ideas March 19, 2009 - The School of Social Work Centennial Celebration Committee needs your creativity and ideas about how we should celebrate the School's 100th birthday in 2011.
The planning committee has come to several conclusions. One, we want to ensure the celebration reflects the views of students and alumni alike to ensure the celebration touches on the School’s history, present and future.
As a starting point we asked for suggestions for a slogan for the celebration. Out of some 19 entries, the committee combined several to come up with: A Century of Creating Hope and Change.
Now, the committee is hoping to find a logo artist among the students and alumni to create a logo to go along with the slogan that can be used on t-shirts and other items. What’s more there is even a prize. The School of Social Work Alumni Office will offer a $50 Barnes and Noble gift certificate to the winner selected by the committee.
Send entries to Rob Schneider, the School’s Coordinator of External Affairs at robschn@iupui.edu by May 1st. Please send it as a jpeg file if possible. The logo entries will be showcased on the School’s Centennial Celebration web page where people can vote for their favorite logo. The celebration web page can be found at: http://www.iupui.edu/~isfk400/centennial/cent.html.
But that’s just the start.
The committee is planning to meet again on April 15th and we are hoping students and alumni will be able to attend the meeting in person or by video conference, bringing their suggestions for celebration activities and events.
The committee wants to ensure all the campuses have opportunities to host events related to the celebration that will likely start in the fall of 2010 and continue into 2011.
For example, the committee is looking at creating a printed document with pictures and text that will portray where the school has been, its impact and where it is going. We want to do something similar on the web, which opens all kinds of possibilities from telling the School’s story through videos and stories about how students are creating hope and change today.
What should these look like? What other ways can we tell the School’s story that can reach a variety of audiences? After the April 15th meeting, committee expects to create different subcommittees to tackle different aspects of the celebration and we are hoping to get help from as many people as possible.
The meeting will be held at 5 p.m. in Room ES2132 in the Education/Social Work Building on the IUPUI campus.
To accommodate those who live outside the Indianapolis area, we have arranged video conference rooms at IU campuses:
