IU School of Social Work Dean Emeritus Sheldon Siegel receives community leadership award

April 24, 2008 - Dr. Sheldon Siegel, the Dean Emeritus of the IU School of Social Work, will receive the 2008 Community Leadership Award from the Indianapolis Senior Center on Friday. The award, which will be presented at the agency's Senior Prom, is given annually to people with a history of community service, particularly in the area of aging. Dr. Siegel served as dean from 1984-1994 and later returned as interim dean in July of 1999, serving in the capacity until Dean Michael Patchner was hired in 2000.

Grant to provide incentive in field of gerontology

Jan. 24, 2008 – The Indiana University School of Social Work has been awarded a $75,000 Practicum Partnership Program grant that will serve as an incentive to attract graduate students to the field of geriatrics and gerontology.
